Affiliate network pixels: Affiliate networks we participate in may place tracking scripts on our site to attribute commissions when you click through to a partner and make a purchase. These scripts identify that a click originated from MET; they do not collect your name, email address, or any information you have provided to MET. You can opt out through your browser settings or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal.
When you click a referral or affiliate link and arrive at a partner's site, that site's own privacy policy governs your interaction. We are not responsible for the data practices of third-party sites linked from michiganecotravel.com.
MET does not currently run third-party behavioral advertising on this site. We do not allow ad networks to collect data from our visitors for behavioral targeting purposes.
If we introduce advertising in the future, we will update this policy before doing so, notify newsletter subscribers by email, and provide clear opt-out mechanisms at that time.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Declining analytics cookies does not affect your ability to read content or subscribe to the newsletter.

The Field Notes Dispatch is delivered through Beehiiv. When you subscribe, your email address (and first name if provided) is stored in Beehiiv's system. Beehiiv's own privacy policy governs their handling of subscriber data as a platform operator.
You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any MET email. Unsubscribing removes you from all MET email communications.
When you submit a Partner With Us inquiry, we collect the information in that form (business name, contact name, email, and details about your operation). If we proceed to an evaluation review, additional business records are exchanged by email.
This data is used solely to evaluate whether an operator or brand meets MET's Great Lakes Stewardship Standard. It is not shared with third parties except as required by law.
Retention: Initial inquiry forms are retained for 3 years. Evaluation documentation for active partners is retained for the duration of the partnership plus 3 years. Documentation for applicants not listed is retained for 1 year, then deleted.

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption on all site pages, access controls limiting who can view personal data, and data processing agreements with all third-party service providers named in Section 5.
No method of internet transmission is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that creates a risk to your rights, we will notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.
Our site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly. Contact hello@michiganecotravel.com if you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to us.
If MET is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify newsletter subscribers by email before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
When we make material changes (including adding advertising, introducing new tracking technologies, or changing how we share data) we will update the effective date above and notify newsletter subscribers by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
